We haven't had much of a Summer this year, it seems wrong to wish it away, but I'm feeling the pull of Autumn as we reach the last week of August.
First there was the September issue of Vogue.
Then the first of the Toast Autumn catalogues.
A knee length cord skirt, silk long sleeved top, thick tights.
I started to think about a mustard scarf, a new leather bag, jumper dresses and navy blue moccasins.
I'll embrace Summer while it lasts, will gladly take any fleeting opportunity for bare arms or legs, for sandals, for painted toenails. I'll sit outside for as long as I can, I'll drink in the long days and hope for an Indian Summer with bright, warm September days but Autumn is reeling me in and I'm powerless to resist.

I've been eyeing up a Rib and Hull tote as well! I don't think the CViv one will be my long-term bag of dreams, sadly.
Here's to Jumpers and tights season.
Oh I know exactly what you mean! And I really like the stuff in the A/W catalogues. Lots of lovely natural fibres and interesting textiles.
I ordered the CViv in Spring and sent it back - a bit too small and a bit too unstructured. The Rib and Hull looks more substantial. I'm between that and the Makr button tote at the moment...
I think after this non-Summer I just want to get dressed knowing that I won't have to keep adding or removing layers!
I'm so with you Gemma! Of course summer is fabulous but there's something so relaxing about the start of autumn. You don't have to worry about what the weather's going to be like any more - it's probably going to be chilly and any sunshine is just a bonus. You can curl up at home in warm, soft clothes - and don't have be always ready to run outside to make the most of fleeting sun. And then there's the food - lovely big warming stews and toad in the hole and things. Oooh, I'm getting all excited. Now off to check out those blue moccasins...
