THAT'S BETTER

As someone who loves books, seeing them all living in cardboard boxes since March was hard. A few times I wanted a book and combed through every single box trying to find it without disturbing everything and failed miserably, which lead to much frustration. Last week I was finally able to start unpacking books and finding them homes on the shelves and no prizes for guessing which were first out...

So that's my current full collection of cookery books and other assorted food writing, notice that I say current. I won't tell you just how much is in my Amazon basket (some of it just lives there permanently) and there is so much coming out in the Autumn - most excitingly the new Nigella, which is all Christmas recipes, be still my beating heart. In other news Nigella is appearing at the BBC Good Food Show on Sunday 16th November and I'll be there with bells on.

I too unpacked cookbooks first--in fact, we moved twice before settling in our permanent home, and I had to keep culling and culling (the houses got progressively smaller), and was finally down to around 20. When I unpacked the total collection (300+) I was just overjoyed--look at all these old friends! Now they're all where I can get at them and I feel MUCH better! :)

I don't feel so bad now for taking over 1 of our 3 quite large bookshelves with foodie books now!

td - well 300+ makes me feel a whole lot better about my comparatively small collection!

carine - don't be green, all you need to do is bankrupt yourself with the aid of Amazon

anne - you definitely shouldn't feel bad or will just end up feeling worse and worse as you buy more necessary books (and yes you will always buy more and yes they are necessary)

WOW. Very impressive. And so orderly, too! I love it. :)
I also have shelves of cookbooks and other food-related books...I see we both share a penchant for Jamie Oliver (I just went to see him at a bookstore here in NYC a couple of weeks ago!), among others.
I am thinking of starting a cookbook club so that I cook more from my cookbooks and get to know them better! Have you ever thought of doing something like this -- or perhaps you already cook from them and don't get all of your recipes online, as I lazily do!!

It is a little less tidy now (and a little larger)! A cookbook club sounds like a great idea. How would it work? If it's online I would love to take part. And no, I am very guilty of not using my books enough...
